The most important thing you can do as a parent is to understand where your own value and belief systems come from, to think about how your behaviours are a reflection of this, and to explore in what ways they are serving your own health and wellbeing and that of your children. You can also be gentle on yourself if some of your beliefs and behaviours aren't what you would want - as we all carry forward the impact of our genetics and early childhood experiences and it takes time to own and let these go so that we can really become the person we most want to be.
You can also start to think about all the systems you link in to that either support or inhibit how you would most like to live. Instead of becoming angry and frustrated with the things that aren't working, you can choose to become involved in ongoing conversations about them - so you can not only help to identify the problems (from your own perspective - which is really helpful and important), but can also help to shape solutions. Most people creating systems do so with really good intentions, but sometimes that systems themselves then take over and we forget the human needs of the people they have been designed to serve.
